Training even in the crisis

Lobbe welcomes 40 trainees

Iserlohn/Duisburg - On August 1, 2020, 40 young people will start their training at Lobbe. "We are proud to welcome so many young people to our company. Even and especially during the coronavirus crisis, we are providing training. Because the next generation in the company is very important to us," says Heike Edelhoff, Partner Lobbe Holding GmbH & Co KG. "In our two business divisions, Waste Management and Industrial Services, we rely on long-term junior staff."

Due to the pandemic, this year only some of Lobbe's 40 trainees will be attending a kick-off event in compliance with safety and hygiene regulations regarding Covid-19 in Iserlohn. This offers the newcomers a good opportunity to get to know the company and their future colleagues in advance. The apprenticeships themselves then take place at the nine sites in Duisburg, Iserlohn, Hagen, Marienheide, Castrop-Rauxel, Spremberg, Brilon, Bestwig or Mutterstadt.

In addition to eleven commercial trainees, five are training to become specialists in pipe, sewer and industrial services. A total of 15 career starters are training to become professional drivers. "We are particularly pleased that there is another female candidate among the professional driver trainees," says Heike Edelhoff. There are also two prospective IT specialists and one prospective IT specialist among the Lobbe trainees. Three young people have decided to train as industrial mechanics. There is also a trainee chemical laboratory technician and two trainees as automotive mechatronics technicians. "Basically, we train for our own needs," says shareholder Gustav Edelhoff. "If they perform well, we offer both opportunities to be taken on and very good promotion prospects." This is because Lobbe is keen to offer young people prospects beyond their training. Lobbe is thus securing the future of an economically successful company.
