Lobbe acquires majority stake in FVH Folienverdelung Hamburg

New recycling options for plastic waste

Iserlohn. The Lobbe Group, headquartered in Iserlohn, is taking over the majority of FVH Folienveredelung Hamburg GmbH & Co KG, headquartered in Schwerin, with effect from 15 August 2018. The acquiring shareholder will be Lobbe Entsorgung West GmbH & Co KG with a share of 80 percent. FVH is considered a specialist in the recycling of soiled and mixed plastic films as well as mixed plastics - i.e. all plastics that cannot otherwise be allocated - and produces high-quality type granulates made of low-density polyethylene for the plastics processing industry. With innovative processes for washing, separating and drying, which are patented worldwide via CVP Clean Value Plastics GmbH based in Hamburg, FVH produces raw material qualities that go far beyond what was previously known and thus offers recycling options for plastic waste that was difficult to recycle in the past.

The Lobbe Group operates sorting plants for light packaging that are among the most modern and advanced in Germany. With the takeover of FVH, there are now excellent opportunities to make a leap in the recycling of used packaging. The sorting depth can be increased considerably and contribute to a significant increase in the amount of recycled plastics. The quality of the type granulates, and in future also compounds, also opens up the possibility of replacing primary plastics in applications and products in which this was previously inconceivable.

"The Lobbe Group has found the ideal partner in FVH, as it has the innovative technologies to produce high-quality granulates from post-consumer plastic waste for a wide range of applications and, in conjunction with our sorting plants, to generate an innovative leap forward," says Michael Wieczorek, Managing Director of Lobbe Entsorgung West GmbH & Co KG. For Michael Hofmann, Managing Director of FVH, the entry of Lobbe means not only a sustainable supply of raw materials with consistent sorting qualities, but also the possibility of continuing FVH's growth course with the production of compounds and thus tapping further raw material resources. With this takeover, the Lobbe Group has secured an exclusive licence from CVP for the patented processes in Germany and is planning the successive expansion of capacities and the extension to other material flows. The parties have agreed not to disclose the details of the transaction.
