Leak testing in accordance with DIN EN 1610: Protection for the environment, property and legal certainty
In Germany, the owner is generally responsible for the functionality and tightness of wastewater pipes. This applies to private property drainage systems as well as commercial and industrial wastewater systems. According to DIN EN 1610, wastewater systems must be leak-proof in order to prevent wastewater from escaping or groundwater from penetrating. A leak test ensures that pipes and connections meet these requirements - whether in new buildings, during building acceptance, in existing buildings or if leaks are suspected.
When is a leak test necessary?
The inspection is usually carried out as part of the acceptance of new pipes, but is also useful or mandatory in the following cases:
- Suspicion of leaks or leaks
- Warranty acceptance for new buildings
- Preparation for refurbishment measures
- Recommissioning of decommissioned lines
- Requirements imposed by authorities or within the framework of the State Water Act (LWG)
