Iserlohn. What does the everyday life of a waste worker look like? And what challenges does the circular economy face on a daily basis? As part of his summer tour, Paul Ziemiak, member of the Bundestag (CDU), accompanied the employees of Lobbe Umweltservice on their municipal waste collection tour and then visited the Lobbe sorting plant, where the contents of the yellow garbage cans are processed.
"Today's visit underlines the great importance of the circular economy for our society," said Ziemiak. "We must not just dispose of waste, but see it as a valuable resource. Every step - from design and production to collection, sorting and recycling - is crucial."
The circular economy makes a significant contribution to a sustainable future by disposing of waste and pollutants in an environmentally friendly manner and recovering valuable materials. This commitment extends the life cycle of materials and reduces environmental pollution.
Starting his shift at 5:30 a.m., Ziemiak accompanied the Lobbe employees from the very first minute and thus gained a first-hand insight into the daily processes and challenges of waste management. He praised the dedicated work of the employees and was impressed by the efficient processes in the plant for processing lightweight packaging.
