Iserlohn, 10.05.2024 - It is the first fully electric waste collection vehicle at Lobbe and a pioneering investment in the future that sets new standards in environmental protection and efficiency. The Mercedes-Benz eActros is used in the municipalities of the Märkischer Kreis district and impresses with an output of almost 450 electric horsepower and a specified range of approx. 300 km. Lobbe is thus also underlining its pioneering role in the circular economy with the introduction of alternative drive technologies.
The ultra-modern side loader is equipped with a 77 kWh battery and has a body from Terberg HS in Emstek. This enables the vehicle to operate in an environmentally friendly manner without the use of fossil fuels. This measure marks significant progress towards sustainable, innovative waste disposal services. The purchase of the electric vehicle also proves that Lobbe is focusing on real measures rather than just a green image when it comes to sustainability. The company's sustainable development focuses on specific projects and key issues with a demonstrable impact. In addition to alternative drives, this also includes the associated infrastructure. In addition to the electric vehicles in its fleet, Lobbe has already installed e-charging stations at three locations. The official handover of the vehicle has now taken place at SASE Iserlohn and was attended by representatives from Daimler Truck AG, Terberg HS GmbH and the local car dealership Rosier. The project was characterized by a partnership and trusting cooperation between all parties involved.
The purchase of the vehicle is being funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport with a total of 320,000 euros as part of the directive on the promotion of light and heavy commercial vehicles with alternative, climate-friendly drive systems and associated refueling and charging infrastructure (KsNI). The funding guideline is coordinated by NOW GmbH and applications are approved by the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility.
Nevertheless, the path to procuring this environmentally friendly vehicle was not without its challenges. Applying for funding took almost nine months, and the production time of one year and the high costs were a hurdle. The vehicle is three times as expensive as a comparable conventionally powered model. Although the acquisition costs were reduced by public subsidies, there is still a considerable cost differential. The future of this investment now lies in practice. The coming years will show whether the vehicle can deliver the promised performance values and what efficiency and availability it actually offers.
Lobbe is taking a step forward with this all-electric waste collection vehicle and sending a clear signal for environmentally friendly and sustainable waste disposal solutions in the Märkischer Kreis district.
