Operation of the Iserlohn central waste management facility continues

Iserlohn. The Iserlohn Central Waste Management Facility (ZEA) will be taken over and operated by the company Lobbe Entsorgung West GmbH & Co KG from April 2018. This was agreed on Thursday, March 15, 2018, by the board of the Ruhrverband and the management of Lobbe. The continued operation of the disposal plant for liquid waste will secure eight jobs in Iserlohn in the long term. "We thus cover almost the entire range of hazardous waste and will be able to address a larger customer potential in the future," says Lobbe Managing Director Christoph Aßmann.
In addition to the purchase agreement, a service agreement was concluded for the discharge and treatment of leachate from the Iserlohn-Griesenbrauck landfill site. Furthermore, a public law agreement between the contracting parties and the city of Iserlohn regulates the discharge of ZEA's wastewater into the sewer system of the city of Iserlohn and its subsequent treatment at the Ruhrverband's Iserlohn-Baarbachtal wastewater treatment plant. "In the agreement, we have defined further discharge limits for the ZEA in addition to the plant's operating permit under public law. In this way, we prevent overloading of the Iserlohn-Baarbachtal wastewater treatment plant and thus ensure sustainable protection of the Baarbach," says Norbert Frece, CEO of the Ruhrverband.
The plant, which was first commissioned in 1964 and modernized several times in subsequent years, had the aim from the outset of offering regionally based companies a way of disposing of their liquid waste. In this way, the Ruhr and Lenne rivers were protected from the discharge of inadequately treated industrial wastewater. With the Lobbe company, a buyer was found who has been operating successfully in the highly competitive waste disposal market for many decades. The contractual partners look forward to a cooperative and hopefully successful partnership at the Iserlohn site.
